Inside Florida’s Precast Process: A Tour with Andy Manthei at Truemont Materials

Join Andy at the Truemont Materials’ Green Cove Springs, Florida, facility as he walks through how his team manufactures high-quality precast concrete products designed for Florida’s unique construction needs. Follow along with the step-by-step process, detailed below.

The Precast Process

  1. Measurement & Mixing Begins - Raw materials like sand and stone are precisely measured using calibrated scales for accuracy.
  2. Conveying to Aggregate Bins - Materials travel along a conveyor belt and are deposited into aggregate bins.
  3. Mixing the Concrete - Aggregates are transferred into a mixer, where water, cement, and sometimes fly ash are added.
  4. Blending the Mixture - All components are thoroughly blended to achieve a consistent concrete mix.
  5. Transferring the Concrete - The mixed concrete is poured into a bucket, which is transported by a forklift or crane.
  6. Pouring Into Forms - The concrete is poured into pre-set forms to shape the final product.
  7. Curing Process - The formed concrete is left to cure and strengthen.
  8. On-Site Storage - Once cured, finished products are stored at our Jacksonville plant, ready for delivery to projects across Florida.

“Everything is made according to the specifications that an engineer requires for their site-specific scenario.”

Redi-Rock

Redi-Rock is Truemont’s flagship large-block retaining wall system, ideal for Florida’s coastal and inland applications. Available in multiple sizes, including XL Blocks, which stand about 3 ft (.9 m) tall with depths ranging from 52 to 96 in (1320 - 2438 mm), these blocks provide robust retention solutions for Florida’s diverse landscapes.

Novum Wall

Truemont’s newest precast solution, Novum Wall, offers enhanced flexibility for retaining wall design. These 9 in (228.6 mm)-tall, 4 ft (1.2 m)-wide blocks provide innovative retention solutions for Florida developments, whether stabilizing inland waterways or reinforcing commercial projects.

Pole Base

Truemont is an FDOT-approved batch plant for incidental products, including pads and concrete foundations like Pole Base, a precast site lighting solution ideal for Florida’s infrastructure. Available in 12 in (304.8 mm), 18 in (457.2 mm), 24 in (609.6 mm), and 30 in (762 mm) diameters, with heights from 2 to 14 ft (.6 - 4.3 m), each base is custom-made to meet engineer-specified bolt configurations, conduit templates, and rebar cage requirements, ensuring compliance with Florida building codes.
